Community Champions

Are you deeply embedded in your local rural community? Heartland United Way is seeking someone just like you to serve as a Community Champion. In this role, you'll be the bridge between our organization and the heart of your community.

Your mission? To spread the word about our programs, events, and resources far and wide, ensuring that everyone in your community has access to the support they need. We'll send you the information you need and you tell us what needs your community is facing.

Community Investment Process to Begin

After communities in Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick Counties raised a record $1.78 million, volunteer donors will come together to determine how to distribute some of those funds to the Heartland United Way’s partner agencies.

Partners submit grant applications seeking funding for programs that promote Healthy Communities, Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, and build Community Resiliency.

The Community Investment Process helps to ensure that the community-raised dollars are invested in local programs that change lives and align with Heartland United Way’s mission.

Healthy Community

Our Goal

Increase the number of people who are healthy and avoid risky behavior by one-third.

Impact in Community

United Way agencies provide health and wellness programs to encourage healthy lifestyles. Programs focus on providing medical and dental care to the uninsured, assisting people dealing with addiction and teaching kids skills to avoid drugs and alcohol, offering behavioral health services, supporting veterans and teaching about healthy relationships and violence prevention.
