Sara Kirkley is the Communications Director for the Heartland United Way, where she is excited to tell stories of need and generosity in Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick Counties.
Prior to joining the Heartland United Way in December 2024, Sara worked as a journalist in central Nebraska for 18 years. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Iowa.
Sara’s goal is to use her storytelling experience to make sure more people know the impact they can have to create youth opportunity, healthy communities, financial security for all and community resiliency.
She lives in Grand Island with her husband Brandon and their young daughter. In her spare time, Sara likes to camp, attend concerts, travel and spend quality time with family and friends.
